The Story of ‘Backspace Computer Support’
and it’s founder Sean Williams…

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Sean. Sean was a typical boy in almost every respect except for an extreme obsession with computers, technology and video games. He was so obsessed with these things that he spent every waking minute day-dreaming about them and tinkering with them. He probably dreamt about them in his sleep too!

Then one fine day in 1991, Sean’s parents gave him the greatest gift by purchasing a Commodore 64 ‘personal computer’ for himself and the family. And so the extreme obsession suddenly became even greater!

Throughout Primary, Intermediate and Secondary Schools – Sean excelled in computing while neglecting almost every other subject with complete disregard. Sean’s friends and family worried about the amount of time he spent ‘tinkering’ with computers and the lack of time working on his ‘real’ school work. Little did they know (and neither did Sean) that his obsession with computers would lead to a wonderful career.

Ever since Sean was a boy he has been helping people with their computer problems. He has always shared his knowledge passionately with anybody that has asked for help. Since graduating from the University of Waikato in 2006 with a Bachelor of Electronic Commerce degree he has worked for other companies, helping out with various computer systems and issues that arise.

In 2010 Sean launched his very own business: ‘Backspace’ which is a mobile computer support service that helps people with their computers in the comfort of their home or office.

Sean created Backspace as a vehicle to share his biggest passion in life (computers and technology) with as many people as possible. Backspace also shares this passion through Sean’s other values, such as respect, patience, friendliness, teaching and delivering extraordinary service.

Sean also created Backspace as a symbol which illustrates that any passion that people have can be turned into a lifetime work of art and means of living, but only if the passion is strong and genuine.

Sean’s most satisfying days are the ones where he comes home having met heaps of great people, having solved their computer problems and having given them great service and feeling like he has made a positive difference in their lives. Sean believes that making people feel valued and special as individuals is one of the greatest gifts you can give any person.

As demand has grown for the Backspace service, Sean has had to find other passionate staff to help him with the workload. All team members at Backspace share the values that Sean has, and also carry appropriate qualifications to get the work done properly.

Sean is on a mission now to share his passion combined with all the values that he has, to as many people as possible. Sometime in the not too distant future, Backspace will be an iconic Kiwi computer and technology support brand, known not just for it’s great technical ability but for the friendly ‘down-to-earth’ service that people crave so much in this industry.

If you have a computer and need it to be looked at – get in touch with Sean and the team at Backspace so we can share our passion of computers and technology with you and your family.
